Location: Lake Country
The Vision:
This homeowner’s vision was to create a timeless home, one that would stand the test of time. Not trendy, not a craftsman. They wanted longevity in the design and living space. They also wanted a home that would grow with them into their retirement years.
The Solution:
The strategy was to build an accessible home with wide doorways and hallways with complete living space on one floor. We used simple horizontal lines and uncomplicated techniques such as the extensive use of glulam timbers and glass to maximize the expansive views. We created an illusion of a floating roof, as there is glass around the complete top of the ceiling, which allows more light in the winter season when sun is low in the sky. We blended natural elements such as stone from Quadra Island and the home was constructed to take advantage of the 26-acre lot and positioned accordingly.
